As I write this, a new period has just begun at the University of Helsinki. For me this doesn't signal much of a change: all the courses I am currently taking will simply go on as usual, with no new courses in sight and no new responsibilities at hand. All of this does raise one question: just what the hell did I do during the week off between these two periods? In the immortal words of Riff Raff from the Rocky Horror Picture Show, "It's astounding, time is fleeting." One of the most basic rules of the world seems to be that whenever you have any time to use at your own leisure, you are bound to waste it or let it slip away. Either that or the time spent on things of your own choosing simply goes by faster because, apparently, time flies when you're having fun.
Just two nights ago, to combat the trickling away of time, everyone in the world turned their clocks back by an hour in an effort to give everyone in the world more time. This piece I thus dedicate to the amazing friendly soul who invented Daylight Saving Time, because without their invention I would've had one fewer hour to sleep in on Sunday.
